I am a lifelong advocate of reusing items that would otherwise be wasted. I learned to compost and minimize waste in my youth. I try to avoid disposables and favor glass and metal for their reuse and recycling options. I made many pieces of art work from plastic lids as many recycling centers didn’t want lids. I am also fascinated by that which we consider trash but has beautiful color and form; perfect circles of color. Some friends and I collected plastic cards; bus passes, credit cards, id cards. Returning to the perfect circles motif, I’ve made collages and even jewelry out of these. I’d like to acknowledge the artists that create the card as well. From lettering, logos, and font to the art work on the card. It is just another example of finding beauty in everyday things.
