Doug and I began our business after we retired from our teaching careers. I had had a weaving business ~ Particular People ~ in the 80’s. I designed woven dolls of all sorts, including the Santas that I still do, and thanks to a wonderful sales rep, they ended up in shops all over the country ~ 50 black kittens in Bergdorf-Goodman’s, NYC! As sales declined I went back to college and began a fulfilling teaching career. Doug and I met during a Masters of Art in Education program. After our teaching careers, we both needed something to do… since Doug is quite the builder (a couple of houses we lived in), we started designing our children’s products. I had sworn I would never touch my loom again, but after a 20 year break, I sort of missed weaving, so we added my dolls to our business, named Validate~Appreciate because I always need more validation and appreciation 🙂
