Vendor Biography

Roundabout Woodturning is your source of unique, beautifully handcrafted functional and artistic woodturnings created by forester and woodturner Scott Josiah. Scott’s work is inspired by and made on Lummi Island, located in the Pacific Northwest’s Salish Sea.

The wood used in these turnings is salvaged from trees that were removed for other reasons, that died due to storms or disease, or were harvested from sustainably managed forests.

“As a forester for more than 40 years, I have been enormously fortunate for a life filled with the wonder and beauty of trees and forests. Some 15 years ago, I began the humbling journey of turning wood on a lathe, exploring its endless diversity and beauty, merging functionality with art.”

“To me, woodturning is an exercise of respect for the tree that gave the wood. In a spirit of discovery and celebration, and in the memory of the tree, I feel a deep responsibility to draw out the full beauty of every piece.”
