Description:
There have been so many wonderful concerts that I have only partially experienced because my mind is still stuck in the past or wondering about the future. Some of the most transcendent listening experiences for me have been when I was able to be fully present. In our “Embodied Listening Series” concerts, our intention is to invite everyone to move towards being fully present in order to experience the music from the inside out. Samantha Sinai, a board certified music therapist and cellist, will guide you through a brief presencing meditation to invite you into the present moment. By calming our busy and active minds, we may become more centered in the moment and therefore more able to take in what is happening around us. At the concert, guests will be invited to listen to the music without a program and with the request of no applause between pieces in order to create an atmosphere where we can all go inwards and experience how our bodies react to the music. The musical program includes mainly introspective selections of Baroque music played by Dawn Posey and Julie Weston on Violin, Samantha Sinai on Cello, and Daniel Frizzell on Theorbo. At the end of the concert, there will be an opportunity for both musicians and guests to have a community conversation to share what the experience was like. We hope that you’ll leave the concert feeling rejuvenated.
